Margarita Josefina Soto Fierro, de 87 años, de Stratford, falleció el 8 de abril de 2026 en Dumas.

Margarita nació en Camargo, Chihuahua, México, hija de Alfonso Soto Muñoz y Guadalupe Fierro Torres. Desde el inicio de su vida, estuvo guiada por la fe, la familia y los valores sencillos que la acompañaron siempre.

El 31 de diciembre de 1960, contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, José Manuel Marquez Betancis, en la Plaza de Cárdenas, Chihuahua. Juntos formaron un hogar lleno de amor, dedicación y trabajo, criando una familia que se convirtió en su mayor orgullo. Su unión perduró por muchos años hasta el fallecimiento de su esposo el 8 de junio de 2016.

En el año 2016, Margarita se convirtió en una querida integrante de la comunidad de Stratford, donde continuó compartiendo su bondad, fortaleza y calidez con todos quienes la conocieron.

Margarita disfrutaba de las cosas sencillas de la vida. Fue una dedicada ama de casa que encontraba paz leyendo su Biblia y asistiendo a la iglesia. Le gustaba bordar, hornear pasteles y preparar pancakes que reunían a su familia alrededor de la mesa. Su hogar siempre fue un lugar de amor, fe y consuelo.

Deja un legado que vive a través de varias generaciones. Le sobreviven sus cinco hijos: Pedro Marquez Soto y su esposa Celia Zúñiga; Guillermo Marquez Soto y Cristina Carbajal; Octavio Marquez Soto y su esposa Silvia; Martin Marquez Soto y su esposa Araceli Cainero; y Carmen Marquez Soto y su esposo Jesús A. Morales. También fue una orgullosa abuela de 18 nietos y bisabuela de 31 bisnietos, cada uno ocupando un lugar especial en su corazón.

Le sobrevive también su hermano, Antonio Soto Marquez.

Margarita fue precedida en la muerte por su amado esposo, José Manuel Marquez Betancis; sus hermanos, Jaime Soto Fierro y Alfonso Soto Fierro; y sus padres.

Su vida fue un ejemplo de fe, amor y entrega. Una vida sencilla, pero profundamente significativa, cuyo recuerdo permanecerá en el corazón de todos los que la conocieron.

Margarita Josefina Soto Fierro, 87, of Stratford, passed away on April 8, 2026, in Dumas. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Immediately following, Margarita will lie in state at the church until 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford, with Father Juan Carlos Barragan celebrating.

Margarita was born in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Alfonso Soto Muñoz and Guadalupe Fierro Torres. She began her life rooted in faith, family, and simple joys—values that would guide her throughout her years.

On December 31, 1960, she married the love of her life, José Manuel Marquez Betancis, in Chihuahua at Plaza de Cárdenas. Together, they built a life centered on devotion, hard work, and raising a family that would become her greatest pride. Their love endured for decades until his passing on June 8, 2016.

In 2016, Margarita became a cherished member of the Stratford community, where she continued to share her quiet strength and warm spirit with those around her.

Margarita found joy in life’s gentle rhythms. She was a devoted homemaker who loved reading her Bible and attending church. Her hands were rarely still—whether she was carefully embroidering, baking cakes for her family, or making pancakes that brought everyone to the table. Her home was a place of comfort, faith, and unconditional love.

She leaves behind a legacy that stretches across generations. Margarita is survived by her five children: Pedro Marquez Soto and wife Celia Zúñiga; Guillermo Marquez Soto and Cristina Carbajal; Octavio Marquez Soto and wife Silvia; Martin Marquez Soto and wife Araceli Cainero; and Carmen Marquez Soto and husband Jesús A. Morales. She was a proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 31 great-grandchildren, each of whom carried a special place in her heart.

She is also survived by her brother, Antonio Soto Marquez.

Margarita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, José Manuel Marquez Betancis; her brothers, Jaime Soto Fierro and Alfonso Soto Fierro; and her parents.

Her life was a testament to faith, family, and quiet devotion. The kind of life that doesn’t make noise—but leaves an echo in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
