Margarita Rafaelita Richmond, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed from this life at the age of 80 on April 7, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her dearly. She was born on May 5, 1945, in Roy, New Mexico, to Cornelio Arguella and Odilia Abeyta.
Margarita was raised in Roy, New Mexico where she attended school and helped her family with daily chores while also caring for her younger siblings. She shared a close bond with her brothers and sisters, whom she loved dearly. As the years passed, her siblings grew, married, and began families of their own, but family always remained at the center of Margarita’s life.
A devoted mother, Margarita, was blessed with many children. Though some were called to Heaven far too soon, she poured her love, strength, and care into the children and grandchildren who remained here to carry her memory forward. Her family was the heart of her life, and she loved each one fiercely and deeply.
Margarita is survived by her brother, Louis Sandoval; and her sisters, Geraldine Baca, Meeky Garcia, and Martha Johnson.
She also leaves behind her children: Nick Jr. Martinez of Dalhart, Texas; Kathy Martinez of Colorado; Robin Bontrager of Indiana; and Julie and Cosme Nuno of Dalhart, Texas and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved so dearly: Jessica and Junior Fernandez and their children, Isaiah and Brianna; Nick T. Martinez III; Dominic V. Martinez, his fiancée Faith, and daughter Ellanor Mae; Noah T. Martinez and his daughter Scarlett Irene; Anthony Ramirez and his children, Marietta, Trae, and baby Baylor; Kye and Stephanie Ramirez and their son, Landon; Michael Garcia and his son, Blake; Felicia Martinez and her fiancé Greg and her daughter, Nevaeh; Mariah Deleon and her children, Ryan and Jordan; Sonja Carrillo and her boys, Braxton, Ethan, Brody, and baby; A.J. Vigil and his children, Thalia and Layla; Kayla Vigil and her children, Alexis, baby Bryer, Daylen, Lynden, and Graeson; Esperanza and Francois Neethling and their children, Abraham, Isabella, and Gabriella; and Serenity VanLeer.
