Manuel Ramirez, 91, died Monday, August 16, 2010 in Lubbock, Texas.Services were held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park CemeteryOfficiating was Bob McAlister, Pastor to Sr. Adults, First Baptist ChurchManuel Ramirez, a long time resident of Dalhart, died Monday morning at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock due to injuries sustained in a fall in his home on Wednesday, August 11th.Manuel is survived by his four children, Michael and his wife Adele Ramirez of Dallas, Texas; Carol and her husband Norman Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; William and his wife Roberta Ramirez of Portland, Oregon; and Susan and her husband John Clark of Canyon, Texas. Other survivors include his brothers; Selso Ramirez and Phillip Ramirez of Dalhart and sisters; Isabel Casaz of Dumas, TX, Gavina Dye of Colorado Springs, CO and Angelina White of Midland, TX. And his close friend and companion Letha Romero.Five Grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren Grandchildren Lorne and his wife Debbie Coulson, Robbie Ramirez, Rebecca Ramirez, Christopher Clark and Courtney Clark Great Grandchildren Cody Byers, Tyler Coulson and Michael Brummett.Manuel was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico on May 26, 1919. He moved to Dalhart with his father who worked for the railroad. Manuel played football with the Dalhart Wolves and graduated from Dalhart High in 1937. During World War II Manuel served in the US Army where he was stationed in Brisbane, Australia. It was there he met Isabella Molly Lindsay. They married in Brisbane and moved to Dalhart in 1946.Manuel work for the postal service from 1946 to 1985 when he retired. His wife Molly died in February 1991. More recently, Manuel and Letha have been fixtures at the McDonalds where he would have his morning coffee and at Dairy Queen where they would enjoy his afternoon ice cream.Memorials toAmerican Cancer Society - Texas Division -2433 Ridgepoint Drive~A ` Austin, TX 78754
