Margaret Ann "Maggie" Paulk Derwae, 57, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Amarillo, TX. Funeral Service were at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX. Arrangements provided by Horizon Funeral Home Dalhart, TX. Maggie was born July 25, 1960 in Dalhart, TX to Ray and Lucille (Keyser) Paulk, raised in Dalhart she graduated from Dalhart High School in 1978 she then graduated from Brown College Court Reporting School in 1981 and moved to Houston in 1982 to begin her court reporting career. She returned to Dalhart in 1995 and went to work as a Convenience Store Clerk at what is now Toot n Totum. She was a dedicated, loyal employee giving her job everything she had, filling in shifts when co-workers were unable to come in, welcoming the customers with her infectious smile. Due to health reasons, Maggie had to leave in October 2017, after 14 years. Loved and considered family by Jim Bob and Yvonne Boothe, in high school she worked as a clerk at their store, Ben Franklins until she graduated in 1978. She may well have been one of the most sought-after babysitter in Dalhart, spending many weekends, earning extra cash watching children she grew to love as if they were her own and was loved by parents and children as well. When she wasnt babysitting she enjoyed running around town in her Rambler Station Wagon with her best friends, Lola, Beverly, Jamie, Tammie, Nina, Tina as well as many others. She loved her nieces and nephews, taking every opportunity to spoil them, and loved spending time with family. Her favorite time of the year was NFL Football season and watching the Dallas Cowboys. She knew all players by name & jersey numbers and could often tell you which play they were going to make, and whether or not it was a good idea, in her opinion, and wasnt above yelling at them to say if she disagreed! We will miss our laughing brown-eyed girl but we know she is safe in the arms of her waiting family and no longer in pain - rest easy, sweet sister, rest easy. Maggie is survived by her Sister: Mary K. and husband Jimmy Shelton of Amarillo, TX, her brothers: Charlie Paulk and wife Karan of Kimberly, ID, James Paulk and wife Donna of Amarillo, TX, Johnny and Donald Paulk both of Dalhart, TX as well as an Aunt Ara Garland of Amarillo, TX, 16 Nieces and nephews and 31 great- nieces and great nephews.
