Lynn Hill 83, longtime Dalhartan and local businessman, died Thursday, October 23, 2014 after a long illness.Funeral services were held Monday at 2pm at the First Christian Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Melvin Lynn Hill was born November 26, 1930 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Melvin Eugene and Mabel Inez Hill of Lipscomb, Texas. Lynn lived the first decade of his life in Lipscomb and then moved with his family to a farm west of Dalhart. Lynn married Lynne Smith of Broken Bow, Oklahoma on June 15, 1963 and the two made their home in Dalhart raising two sons, Mark and Paul. Lynn worked as a mechanic and later was the owner operator of Hill Tractor Company the local Case/International dealership. Lynn has been a member of First Christian Church for over 70 years where he served in a variety of roles as deacon, trustee, and elder. He was beloved by his church family to whom he was deeply committed. He is a lifetime member of the Lions Club and the Texas Lions camp. Lion Lynn served with the Dalhart club for 46 years. Lynn is survived by his wife of 51 years Lynne; his son, Mark, wife Dedra and daughter Hunter; son Paul, wife Calana and children Savannah, Harrison and Tatiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Lee and Vaughn, one sister Elva and grandson Joe Mac.
