Luisa Ramos, 82, Beloved Family Woman, DiesLuisa Hernandez Ramos, 82, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Dalhart, TX. Prayer Vigil and Rosary was held at St. Anthonys Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, November 12, 2012. Funeral Mass was held at St. Anthonys Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 followed by graveside services at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home.Luisa Ramos was born on February 10, 1930 in Brackettville, TX to Santiago and Eristia Hernandez, and grew up there with nine siblings. She loved to ride horses with her childhood sweetheart, Manuel D. Ramos, and on June 29, 1947, they were married. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Rocksprings, Texas to begin their lives together. In 1968, they moved to Dalhart, TX where they continued to raise their children. In 1990, after 43 years of marriage, Manuel Ramos passed away in Dalhart, TX.After moving to Dalhart, she was homemaker and mother to eight children and cared for several of her grandchildren as well. A Woman of faith, determination and strength she taught herself to read by prayer. She loved praying with her children, and was known for putting others needs above her own. She was very involved with both the church and school of St. Anthonys Parish, and was an active member of the Cursillo, where she ministered to others. Known affectionately as Grandma, Grandma Pancake, and Little Grandma, she loved and cared for her family and friends. She treated her children's spouses as if they were her own, and enjoyed having her loved ones over for a homemade meal. Luisa enjoyed working in her yard and was awarded the yard of the month honor by the Keep Dalhart Beautiful Committee. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends, going for coffee in the morning and running errands during the day before going home to watch her favorite show, The Young and the Restless. Luisa was preceded in death by: husband Manuel D. Ramos; parents Santiago Hernandez and Eristia Rodriguez Hernandez; two sisters Juanita Garcia and Carmen Burdohan; five brothers Pedro Hernandez, Pete Hernandez, Ramon Hernandez, Santos Hernandez, and Santiago Hernandez; and son-in-law John T. Kratochvil. She is survived by: three sisters Jovita Munez of Sonora, TX, Gloria Dela Rosa of San Antonio, TX, and Eristia Martinez of Sonora, TX; eight children Yolanda Garcia and husband Ecttor (Dalhart, TX), Juan Ramos and wife Mary (Dalhart, TX), Sylvia Blythe and husband George (Childress, TX), Gloria Terrazas and husband Faustino (Amarillo, TX), Manuel Jr. Ramos (Dalhart, TX), Diane Kratochvil and husband Bill (Amarillo, TX), Lindi Banda and husband Alex (Dalhart, TX), and Jimmy Ramos and wife Crystal (Dalhart, TX); 22 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Coon Memorial Hospital and Hospice for their care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthonys Catholic School.
