Lois Mahanay, age 95, passed away on December 12, 2024, in Seneca, South Carolina, where she has resided for the past five years.

Lois was born on May 19, 1929, in Cade, Oklahoma. She married William (Bill) Mahanay on February 17, 1948, and raised two daughters, Sherry and Diana. She spent most of her life in Dalhart, Texas. Lois worked at the Western Skies and Sands Restaurants for a combined total of 35 years, starting as a hostess and later taking on the duties of office manager. She was a long-time member of the Liberty Baptist Church where she delighted in working with the children in the nursery. Lois loved to cook for family and friends. Her pies and "world famous banana pudding" were second to none. She adored her poodles and spoiled them rotten.

Survivors include daughters: Sherry (Jim) Quimby of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Diana Callis of Seneca, South Carolina; eight grandchildren: Brent (Karen) Callis of Walhalla, South Carolina, Ryan (Rachel) Callis Wellfleet, Nebraska, Eric (Danette) Kimsey of Oak Creek, Colorado, Lacey (Bobby) Clark of Amarillo, Texas; nine great-grandchildren: Dakoda (Rebecca) Callis, Laynee Callis, Charlie Callis, Elliott Oakman, Lilabeth Oakman, Rainie Clark, Reise Clark, and Ryleigh Clark; one great-great-grandchild, Casen Clark; one sister, Joy (Edgar) McDonald; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Mahanay; her parents Fred and Katie Boydstun; her in-laws, Bill and Beulah Mahanay; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Viola and Harold Walker, Oletha and Bill Herrington, and Edith and Dee Just; brother-in-law, Carl and Pat Mahanay; brother-in-law, Eugene Mahanay; sister-in-law, Oveta Mahanay; son-in-law, Darrell Callis; granddaughter, April Callis; nephews, Edwin Stamper and Michael Mahanay; and nieces, Barbara Barton and Fredrika Umscheid.

She will be greatly missed and forever loved by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 2:00 in Dalhart, Texas at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Widener officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service Thursday.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 12020 US Highway 87, Dalhart, Texas 79022.
