Lisa DeMots, 58 of Dalhart, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00am on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Denver Avenue Church of Christ with Clay Lobley officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. DeMots will lay in state from noon until 6:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Immediately following, the family will receive friends until 8:00pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Lisa Ann Schroder was born on May 10, 1964 in West Plains, MO to Sidney and Shirley (Strong) Schroder. When she was 11, her family packed up and moved to Dalhart, TX. Her mom had a full-time job keeping Lisa, Darla, Judi and especially David out of trouble. Lisa met the love of her life, Brian, and married him at 17. Within the next 10 years, they had 3 children; Michael, Mason and Marlee. In 2005, Michael got married and within the year Lisa had her first granddaughter, Kadance. Lisa was blessed with another 3 grandchildren; Makayla, Preston and Austyn. She absolutely loved all her grandchildren. She also had 2 grandpuppies: Ace and Blaze. Marlee brought them home to see her and let her spoil them at every chance. And dont forget the "step-son" Buddy, the chihuahua that Brian "voluntold" Lisa to keep that was always there for Lisa either under her feet or laying on her chest. Lisa was a dedicated person. She loved helping people and her job as an apartment manager gave her that opportunity. As the apartment manager, she formed friendships that have lasted throughout the years. Lisa loved going to Red River with her family at every opportunity. She loved reading books, especially romantic vampire books that she shared with her sister, Darla. She loved flowers and planting flowerbeds and playing games of any kind with family. She also loved cooking and baking/decorating cakes. She made birthday cakes for her kids through the years and several character cakes for her grandchildren (she would try whatever they wanted.) Lisa quoted movies frequently and loved playing Movie Trivia. Her favorite thing was her family. She loved when everyone gathered for any reason. Lisa loved cheering on her grandkids and encouraging her kids to always be better than yesterday. She was truly an amazing woman and will be missed by all. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Lisa is survived by her husband: Brian of the home; three children: Michael DeMots and wife Jaklyn and their children Kadance, Makayla, Preston, and Austyn all of Dalhart, Mason DeMots and wife Ashley of Dalhart and Marlee DeMots of Amarillo; one brother: David Schroder and wife Judy of Dalhart; two sisters: Judith Weaver and husband Frank and Darla Schroder all of Dalhart; and two grandpuppies, Ace and Blaze.
