Leslie C. Underlee of Dalhart, TX, passed away on February 28, 2023 at Coon Memorial Nursing Home, Dalhart, Texas at the age of 92. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00PM on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Central Methodist Church. Mr. Underlee will lay in state from 1-2:00PM at the church Thursday, directly before service. Interment will follow in Dalhart Cemetery. Arragnements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Leslie Carlyle Underlee was born on April 4, 1930 to Carl and Geneva (Enger) Underlee in Hendrum. Leslie was confirmed and baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum and he attended Wide Awake country school. He graduated from Hendrum High School with the class of 1948, where he was very active in sports. Following his graduation, he continued to help his father and brother on the family farm and also went custom combining in the southern states. Leslie went into the army in 1953 and was stationed in Germany where he was a radar operator and truck driver. He continued his lifelong farming career in Hendrum after being discharged. Leslie married Yvonne "Teddy" (Lothka) in 1953 and they had one daughter. They continued to live and farm in rural Hendrum and Leslie was active on various community boards. In 1980 Leslie moved and farmed in Donaldson, MN for three years. From there he made his home in Dalhart, Texas where he continued farming for the next 40 years. Leslie was very active in the Central Methodist Church in Dalhart and also the Dalhart Cowboy Church and Dalhart Prison Ministry. He was a faithful follower of Jesus and was always anxious to share his faith. Leslie is survived by his brother, Nolan (Doris) Underlee of Hendrum, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Geneva Underlee, his wife Yvonne "Teddy" (Lothka) Underlee and their daughter, Michele Underlee.
