LaVona Hunter, 83, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 in Dalhart, TXServices were held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 30, 2007 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church in Dalhart Texas.Burial was Saturday in Fairview Cemetery, Putnam, OK under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TexasOfficiants - Rusty Hancock, Pastor, Lincoln Street Baptist Church, Dalhart, TexasLavona Clark Hunter was born December 12, 1923, the youngest child of David and Mel Verda Moore Clark. Lavona was born in Dewey County, OK. She passed away on November 28, 2007. Lavona had all her schooling in or around Putnam, OK Lavona married Willis Joe Hunter on November 11, 1939. To this marriage they had one daughter Marlyne, and 5 sons: J.D., Eddie, Jerry, Tommy and Billy.They were share croppers in Oklahoma until 1946 when they moved to Dalhart. Lavona was a loving mother to her six children, however she had to work very hard to help support 6 children. Most of this was done in the Food service industry. Lavona owned and operated the Super Dog Drive Inn in the 60s here in Dalhart. In 1974 Lavona and Joe moved to Taloga to care for Joes Ailing Father. Lavona returned to Dalhart in 1996. Lavona resided at the Legacy Assisted Living Center before falling ill. Lavona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, two sons Eddie and Billy, her brother Walter Clark and her sister Melva Carter.Survivors include her daughter Marlyne and husband Breezy Walters of Dalhart, sons: J.D. and wife Carolyn Hunter of Taloga, OK, Jerry and wife Mickie Hunter of Dalhart, TX and Tommy Hunter of Dalhart, TX Lavona has 18 grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren and was expecting her first Great-Great Grandchild in April of 2008.. Lavona has a sister in law Wilma Clark in Corn, Oklahoma, and many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.The family suggests Memorials to the Legacy Assisted Living or Coon Memorial Home in lieu of flowers, or to a favorite charity.
