Laura Ann Baker, 62, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Dalhart, TX.Funeral Services were held 3:00pm, Monday August 24, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church Dalhart, TX. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery - under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart, TX Laura Ann Rowlends was born October 17, 1946 to Ralph and Bernadetta (Tille) Rowlends in Portland, Oregon. She grew up and graduated from high school in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Laura met and married Pete Baker on September 21, 1967 in Rock Rapids where they lived until they moved to Dalhart in the mid 1970s. Laura enjoyed cake decorating, bowling, spending time with family and friends, needle point, sewing, crocheting and traveling and was a member of the Lutheran Church. She was a correctional officer at the prison for the last several years.Survivors include her husband: Pete Baker of Dalhart, TX, Sons: David Baker of Dalhart, TX, Richard and his wife Delia Baker of Dalhart, TX, Charles Baker of Denver, CO, Grandsons: Tim Baker of 29 Palms, CA, Cory Baker of Dalhart, TX, Hunter Baker of Spearfish, S. D. Granddaughters: Tara Baker of Lemmon S.D., Kelsea Denton of Allen, KS, Danika Baker of Ashbern, VA.Preceded by her parents two daughters, Joy and Carmen.
