Larry Kay McEvers, 74, died Thursday, March 10, 2016 in Dalhart, Texas.Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery- RobertLedbetter, Pastor, Dalhart Campus Hillside Christian Church officiated - under the care of Horizon Funeral Home.Larry was born May 15, 1941 in Dalhart, TX to W.R. and Mildred McEvers. Larry lived in Dalhart the majority of his life. He briefly lived in Prescott, AZ with his parents but they returned to Dalhart. Larry married Alice Zielke in 1958; they shared their life together for the next 51 years. He then married Virginia Gaddy in 2010 they also continued to reside in Dalhart, TX.Larry attended Barber College in Amarillo and cut hair briefly before going to work at Dalhart Consumers. He later worked at Peoples Natural Gas and West Texas Gas. In 1984 he opened his first business, North Texas Meter Service. He then ventured out in 1989 and started North Texas Gas Company. Larry had a very motivated spirit and work ethic. One of Larrys greatest enjoyments was spending time with his grandkids and helping others. All children held a special place in Larrys heart. His continued encouragement has molded and shaped many young lives. Larrys willingness to extend a helping hand will not be forgotten. His practical jokes will continue to bring smiles to many family and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and wife.He is survived by his wife Virginia McEvers. Sons, James McEvers and wife Debbie of Logan, NM, Mike McEvers and wife Starla of Dalhart, TX, daughter, Misti Dailing and husband Travis of Dalhart, TX. Four step children, Dana Ibach and husband David of Hereford, TX, Terri Smith of Dalhart, TX, David BoJennings and wife Stephanie of Dalhart, TX, Shawn Williams and husband Jeff of Canyon, TX and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
