Laroderick "Rick" Sims- age 45 of Dalhart passed Saturday April 21, 2024 in Dalhart. A celebration of life will be held at 1130AM Monday April 29, 2024, at New Life Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday April 28th from 2-5PM at Horizon Funeral Home. Laroderick Sims known as Little Ricky to family and friends was born in Dalhart, Texas on February 6, 1980, at Coon Memorial Hospital. He graduated from High School at Dalhart High School in 2000. He was a member of God's Church God is Good under the leadership of Rev. Jacob. He studied at North Lake College in Irving, Texas. Then he came back home to work for the Dalhart County Jail for eight years, the City of Dalhart and Texas Department of Public Safety. His hobbies were to preach the life of God and talk to people about God. He also loved to do outside work in the yard and spend time with family and friends. Rick was the only boy in the family, and he is preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. H.K. Sims and Judith Ann Canady Sims. Rick Sims is survived by his only sister Kay Ann Sims, three children, Mya Engert, Laroderick Sims, and Trevon Sims. Rick was a loving person even through his bad times. We all have been short of the Glory of God but to him he was still good-hearted person that will be missed. Words can't express how I feel, and I will never know why God wanted him. But I know that I love you very much and I will miss you, and one day I will see you again in the pearly gates.
