Ladene Johnson, age 86, died Sunday, July 10, 2005 in Dalhart, TX.A family graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005 in Memorial Park Cemetery. A Memorial Service followed at 11:00 am at the Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart. Texas. Officiant's were Jerry Moore, Minister of the Central United Methodist Church, Dalhart, TX& George Chambers, Pastor Channing United Methodist Church, Channing, Texas Ladene Jones was born on December 26, 1918 in Guymon, Oklahoma. She came to Dalhart on the train in 1919 with her mother. She graduated from Dalhart High School in 1937 & was Dalhart Golden Wolves First Football Queen in 1935. In 1931 she joined Central United Methodist Church of Dalhart and has been a lifelong member ever since. In 1943 Ladene married Russel C. Johnson at Central United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years to 2 4 year olds. And has been an active member of the Open Door Sunday School Class.Ladene worked at the Dallam County tax office for 36 years and loved every minute of it! She enjoyed volunteering her time to mentor young children through the H.O.S.T. program for the last 11 years. She was a member of the Conlen Extension Homemakers and an active participant of the 902 quartermasters and ex students association.Ladene was a loving wife, caring mother, and a fun loving grandmother. Most of all Ladene loved spending time with family and friends. All will dearly miss her. She has touched the lives of so many people in Dalhart. Ladene is preceded in death by her husband R.C. Johnson, her parents and 1 brother: Sil Jones Ladene is survived by her son Gary Johnson of Dalhart, Texas 2 Granddaughters: Eren Johnson of Galveston, TX and Linsey Johnson of Amarillo, TX - 2 sisters: Geraldine Jones Carter and Sylvia Ann Jones Williamson of Dalhart, TX Ladene also has several nieces and nephews including Cheryl Ricketson of Stratford and Julie White of Hartley.The family will be at 321 E. 8th in Dalhart and requests Memorials to Central United Methodist Church or a favorite Charity.
