Kenneth J. Sadau, 63, of Dalhart, TX passed away on October 23, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart, Texas. Burial and graveside service followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home. Services were officiated by Rev. LaQuita Jones, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Panhandle, Texas Kenneth was born November 1, 1955 in Sherman, Texas to Albert Julious and Lou Ella (Hanna) Sadau. He grew up in the small town of Olney, Texas where he attended school and graduated from Olney High School in 1974. Having an incredible work ethic, Kenneth was an honor student, a star athlete and he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He married his high school sweetheart, Katherine (Kelly) Sadau, on May 21, 1976. A few years later, in 1978, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Animal Production after maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout his college career. They moved to Dalhart, Texas in 1980 and Kenneth began the Caprock Feeders Management Training Program. In 1983, Kenneth left Caprock Feeders and opened Sadau Outdoor Advertising. Dalhart quickly became home as they started a family and raised their three children, Meagan, Zach and Zeb. Kenneth was a fabulous cook and he loved grilling and smoking meats. His brisket was especially famous and loved by family and friends. Kenneth served on the XIT Board of Directors from 1988-1990 where he was tasked with being in charge of the Worlds Largest Free Barbeque. Kenneth was a gifted and talented artist. He enjoyed many facets of the arts. He could play music by ear and taught himself to play the fiddle. He was blessed with the abilities to draw, paint, construct and create. He was a perfectionist by nature and saw the world through such a unique lens. An avid hunter and outdoorsman since he was a young boy, Kenneth began guiding hunts for the Spike Box Ranch in Benjamin, TX in the late 90s. Here, he would also find his love and passion for taxidermy. He began learning the art of taxidermy and in the early 2000s, he opened his business. Many customers over the years have been given the gift of his artistry to put on display. Kenneth was a proud family man who held marriage and family in high esteem. His children were his treasures and being "Pa" to his six grandchildren brought him so much joy. He valued friendship and considered his friends to be an extension of his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lou Ella (Hanna) Sadau and his infant big sister Suzan Sadau. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Katherine Sadau of Dalhart, TX. Children Meagan Luley (Brian) of Prosper, TX, Zach Sadau (Meg) of Panhandle, TX and Zeb Sadau of Roswell, NM. Six grandchildren, Tatum, Hallie and Nate Luley, Benjamin and Macyn Sadau, and Charlotte Sadau. Brother, Keith Boney.
