Kenneth Cunningham, 80, died Friday, July 22, 2016 in Dumas, TexasFuneral Services were at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Hartley, TX. Burial followed at 3:30 pm in the Channing Cemetery, Channing, Texas with Military Honors.Officiating was his Nephew -Randy Cunningham, Booneville, ARKenneth Dean Cunningham was born November 12, 1935 to Virgle Lee Cunningham Sr. and Lora Ethel (Phillips) Cunningham in Big Spring, TX. Ken was a graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX and had served in the United States Army from 1963-1965 as a Field First Sergeant, commanding, loading, and driving tanks. Mr. Cunningham married Sue Shepherd Pippin on February 3, 1973 in Channing, TX. Ken retired December 31, 2005 as District Conservationist with the US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Services, Hartley, Texas after 42 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartley and was an active team member of his C-C Chuckwagon Team of family members until a few years ago. C-C Chuckwagon catered meals and competed in Chuckwagon cook-offs winning numerous awards and prizes. He enjoyed being with family and friends. Ken was always a great Santa Claus for the XIT Rangers Christmas, Party.Ken and his daughter Peggy enjoyed helping the ranch neighbors work their cattle.He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers in law: Clyde Shepherd & Red Shepherd. Sister in law: Jean Cates and a niece, Candace Cunningham.He is survived by his wife Sue Cunningham, step daughter Peggy Pippin both of Hartley, TX - brothers Virgle L. Cunningham, Jr. and wife Bettie of Elkton, VA, Douglas E Cunningham and wife Peggy of Booneville, Arkansas, a brother in law Frank Shepherd and wife Mozelle of Channing, TX, a nephew Randy Cunningham and wife Susan of Booneville, Arkansas, nieces Lydia Cunningham of Elkton, VA, Robbye Schwarzkoph and husband Tom of The Woodlands, TX and a great niece Shawna Cunningham of Baltimore, MD as well as many friends. Memorials may be made to the Channing Cemetery Association or the Hartley First Baptist Church.
