"Moma Jean" Juanita Jean Eversoll Turpin, 95, went to be with the Lord Saturday April 11, 2020.
Graveside Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on April 15th 2020 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart TX. Due to the Coronavirus only immediate family can attend. Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Services are by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart, TX.
Jean was born November 27th 1924, to William Elmer (Bud) and Nellie Washburn Eversoll in Elkhart, Kansas. The family moved to Middlewater, Texas in 1931, Jean and her sister, Joyce, attended school at Middlewater until their Senior year when they moved to Dalhart and graduated in 1942,
She married Claude Albert Turpin on August 26th 1944. While living around Dalhart, Jean was a homemaker as well as school bus driver. They moved to Clayton, N.M. in 1958, and worked on the Snyder Ranch until 1963. They moved to Grenville, N.M. while there she drove a school bus for the Des Moines, N.M. school system until 1967.
Jean returned to Dalhart and went to work for the All Day Cleaners for several years, then worked for Alco until she retired.
Jean enjoyed sewing, knitting, canning, cooking, collecting cookbooks, reading, traveling & photography. She also enjoyed her Pomeranian's. After retiring she traveled with friends to New Mexico & Colorado, visiting the Indian dwellings, pueblos & etc. She also made trips to New Mexico, Oklahoma and Dallas, TX areas visiting family.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Nellie Eversoll, a brother in law Wesley Purdy, two son-in-laws, Benny Gilbert and Dale Reagan, grandsons, Harold Kirk Gilbert & Alan Loy Newman and one Great Grandson Patrick Goolsbey.
She is survived by her four daughters, Diane & Sam Mason of Amarillo, TX, Mitzy & Larry Brace of Texhoma, TX, Leslie Reagan of Stratford, TX and Terri & Donnie Blankenship of Caddo Mills, TX; one sister Joyce Purdy of Dalhart, TX, two nieces Sherri Beasley and Kay Tipton of Amarillo, TX.
Eight Grandchildren Paula Gilbert, Guy Gilbert, & Kayla Gilbert, Benny & Jessica Brace , Logan & Rebecca Brace, Kristen Townsend, Timarra & Monte Monroe, Teneke & Jeremy Aitson & Tiffany & Kelby Smith and several bonus grandchildren from blended families.
Multiple Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
