Juanita Rios Leal "Wela", 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas. A rosary will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Dalhart, Texas on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 9:45 am with mass following at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas. Juanita Rios began her life December 3, 1941, the second child of Pedro and Lucia (Davila) Rios, in Robstown, Texas. She married Hilario D. Leal on March 30, 1957 in Corpus Christi. Upon relocating to Friona, they had 2 daughters, Anita and Delia, and one son, Hilario Jr. The family made their home in Dalhart in 1970. A devout member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Juanita enjoyed attending mass and church events with her family. She was known for her green thumb and loved working outside with her plants. She dearly loved her grandchildren and was an amazing woman with a lot of energy. She was very passionate about her faith and serving others in any way that she could. Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Hilario (Leo) Leal; son, Hilario Leal Jr., parents, Pedro and Lucia Leal; three brothers, Pete Rios Jr., Jesse Rios, Manuel Rios and one sister, Emelia (Rios) Trevio. Juanita is survived by her two daughters, Anita (James) Mariscal and Delia (Richard) Baker of Dalhart; five sisters, Maria Leal, Isabel Ramirez, Lucia Castro, Elvira Rivera and Amanda Solis of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
