Ferd H. Fort, Jr. "JR", 59 of Dalhart, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00PM on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church with Ty Hancock officiating. Interment will follow in Nara Visa Cemetery in Nara Visa, NM. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00PM on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. JR was born on November 5, 1962 to Ferd H. Fort, Sr. and Jan S. in Las Vegas, NM. He attended Amistad schools and finished the last semester of high school at Logan High School. In 1985, JR started hauling cattle for Dale Stull out of Nara Visa and did that for several years. And for the last 21 years, JR drove for P&P Delco. In 2009, he began a relationship with Sherryl Austin. They had a Pomeranian fur baby named Cloe Mae who passed away from cancer on January 5, 2022. JR s motto was "I bring a smile to everyones face; somebody showing up and somebody leaving." He is preceded in death by his father: Ferd H. Fort, Sr.; and one brother: Frank Wilborn Fort. JR is survived by his spouse: Sherryl Austin of Dalhart, mother: Jan S. Fort of San Antonio; and sister: Wendy Fort of San Antonio.
