Joyce M. Slatton, 81, died on Sunday, October 29, 2017 in Grapevine, TX. Graveside services were at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX. Officiating was by Terry Stegall of the New Life Church. Arrangements provided by Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TX. Joyce Morrine Clark was born in Paragould, AR on Thursday, November 28, 1935. She was the only child of Leon and Lavannah Clark. Joyce was a cheerleader in high school when she met Claude, who was on the football team. They became high school sweethearts and were married on October 18, 1953 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. They were married for 46 years. Joyce and Claude moved to Dalhart, TX in 1970 where she resided for 40 years until moving to Grapevine, TX. Joyce was a doting mother and grandmother, "Meme" as her grandchildren and great grandchildren affectionately called her. She had a heart of gold and deeply loved anyone who was lucky enough to know her. Joyce loved her family and was happy to be part of all family activities. She enjoyed watching football and her grandchildren play sports. Joyce loved to travel and see the country. She was always the life of the party and had friends everywhere she went. She loved dancing, music, a good game of Gin Rummy, and was always dressed to the nines with her impeccable fashion sense and love of all things shiny. Above all, she loved Jesus. Joyce is survived by 3 children- Cyndi Slatton Burnam of Grapevine, TX, Ricky Slatton & his wife, Barbara of Amarillo, TX and Chris Slatton of Grapevine, TX and 10 grandchildren- Christina Dorsey & husband, Clinton of Grapevine, TX, Tim Slatton & wife, Sarah of Amarillo, TX, Krystal Slatton of Amarillo, TX, Teralee Barnett of Victoria, TX, Natalie Slatton of Orlando, FL, Aaron Slatton of Roanoke, TX, Brad Burnam of Grapevine, Sabrina Slatton of Ada, OK, Derrick Slatton of Lubbock, TX and Macy Slatton of Ada, OK and 12 great-great grandchildren. Joyce is preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, Claude Slatton and son, Michael Slatton.
