Joy Johnson, 79 of Dalhart, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2021. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 1:30PM on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Memorial Park Cemetery with Father Phil Ray officiating. Mrs. Johnson will lay in state with a closed casket from noon until 6:00PM on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Joy Johnson was born to V. C. Richardson and Ada (Hays) Richardson on October 6, 1942, in Littlefield, TX. Joys family moved to Dalhart in 1950 where she lived on a farm east of town. Joy graduated from Dalhart High School top of her class. On March 15, 1966, Joy married Claude Johnson, Jr. in Clayton, NM. Claude and Joy resided in Dalhart, TX, where they were engaged in agriculture ranging from the Texas Panhandle down to the Texas Gulf Coast and into Arkansas. One of Joys passions was reading about the worlds beauty which she was fortunate enough to see firsthand having travelled to more than a dozen countries throughout her life. Mother was one of the most kindhearted persons I knew always putting her needs second to everyone else. She was loved by all. Joy is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Claude Johnson, Jr., her father V. C. Richardson and mother, Ada Richardson. Joy is survived by one son, Claude Johnson III and wife Robyn and their twin daughters, Remington Jean and Circe Joy all of Dalhart, TX., one brother, Jim Richardson, three sisters, Donna Hall, Barbara Schaff, and Kay Moore.
