John E Williams Jr, 75, passed away peacefully in Dalhart Texas on Friday, January 1, 2021. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Hartley Christian Fellowship with Pastor Bobby Medford officiating. The burial followed at Hartley Cemetery, Hartley, Texas. John E. Williams Jr was born Monday, December 10, 1945 to Faye and John Emmett Williams in Dalhart, Texas. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1964. John married Jelene Campbell September 3, 1966 in Hartley Texas and they had two children, Shannon Williams and Stephanie (Williams) Fowler. John was a Hartley County Deputy for many years before being elected Hartley County Sheriff, taking office January 1, 1985. He served the citizens of Hartley County for 15 years in that capacity. Anyone that knew Johnny knew that his favorite hobby was fishing. He especially enjoyed his camping and fishing trips with the guys these last several years. He was the biggest fan of his grandchildren. He loved watching them on the court and on the field. He was so proud of Taylor and Jarrah and their accomplishments. He was so proud he put an OU sticker and a Texas A&M Sticker on the back of his truck at the same time! No words could describe the honor and pride he felt about Mitchell (Jack) and Brady choosing to serve our country. He loved his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids with all of his heart. John is survived by his wife, Jelene Williams of Hartley. His son, Shannon Williams and wife Ginger of Amarillo, Texas, his daughter, Stephanie Fowler and husband Chanze of Hartley, Texas, four grandchildren, Taylor Hudspeth and husband Tyler of College Station, Texas, Brady Williams of Amarillo, Texas, Jack Fowler and wife Irene of Bushland, Texas and Jarrah Ivy of Denver, Colorado. A sister, Becky Brown and husband Curtis of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Stan Williams and wife Diane of Amarillo, Texas; Great grandchildren: Alina and Noah Fowler and Halsey Hudspeth and several nieces and nephews and his favorite four legged companion, CoCo. John is preceded in death by his parents John Emmett and Faye Williams and a sister Mickey Williams; his father and mother in law Erwin and Pearl Campbell, brother in law Glenn Campbell and brother in law Frankie Locke.
