Johnnie Goodnight Bollinger, 84, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Greensboro, NC. Graveside Service were held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Johnnie passed on to Heaven on April 9, 2016. She was the daughter of Hayden & Larkie Rogers Goodnight. She was born on July 2, 1931 in Memphis, Texas. The family moved to Amarillo in June of 1941. During the war years, Hayden was a member of the Texas Liquor Control and Larkie worked at Pantex until the war was over. When the war was over Hayden went on to work as an insurance salesman worked there until he was 80 and decided to retire. Johnnie graduated from West Texas State College and taught 7th grade History in Gallup, NM for 2 years. In 1954, she married Thomas Clayton and, on his return from Korea, they moved to North Carolina.She returned to Texas in 1989 and was married to Charles Dayland Bollinger in 1991. With both of them retired, she and Charles traveled as much as their health allowed. Johnnie is survived by 4 children, Tom Clayton, Jr., Les Bollinger, Gay Ames, and Carrie Nations, she is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
