John Washburn, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 Memorial Services were held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Hillside Christian Church with Allan Evans officiating.John Michael Washburn was born June 23, 1952 in Amarillo, Texas to John Weldon and Jerry Colleen (Harris) Washburn. John grew up in Amarillo. He attended Tascosa High School, where he was an all-star football player, he graduated in 1969 and began playing college ball on a Scholarship from Henderson County College in Athens, TX. Johns career in pipeline construction had him traveling all over the United States and included working as a jobber, pipefitter and job site supervisor. John worked for Cargill in Dalhart at the time of his death. He loved to gamble and be with family and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents; Max and Jerry Hoynacki of Amarillo and his son Chad Washburn of Waco. He leaves behind two daughters; Tanya Washburn of Liberty, Maine and Christi McPeak of Katy, Texas. He is survived by his sister; Vicki Bower, brother; Don Washburn, Brother In Law; Wesley Bower, grandsons CJ Washburn, Will McPeak, Casey McPeak, Granddaughters; Lara White and Tori Washburn. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. After the services family and friends will gather at the Lucky Lady ( 7th and Denver Ave.)
