John Dee Stewart, 84, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Amarillo, Texas.A graveside services were held Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 2:00 pm, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas.John Stewart was born in Clayton, NM February 7, 1931 to John and Myrtle (Trimble) Stewart. He grew up in Perico, TX and after graduating high school he joined the Navy where he served his country for four years. After his release from the military, John returned home where he farmed and rancheded until he and his wife LaVon opened Lyn Bragg Truck Stop & Diner. After that, they continued to open and run many restaurants together. In his later years, John worked as a truck driver for Frontier Fuel until his retirement. He was happiest in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado where he would enjoy nature. He loved fishing, hunting, telling funny stories, and was an amazing cook. He was a funny, loving man who will be greatly missed by his family, who loved him very much, along with many friends.He is survived by two daughters, Karen Cook, Katy and her husband Tedie West, two sons; John Whiteside and Mark Whiteside; nine grandchildren; Keri Cook Marler, J.B. Cook III, Tedie West III, Jeni West, Anna West, Ruschelle Whiteside Robinson, Nikki Whiteside Truelove, Coby Whiteside, and Kayla Measner, two sisters-in-law; Mary Kay Stewart and Gayle Stewart, nieces; Kathy Jean, Debbie Isom, Kim Pack, Rhonda Fisk, Teri Savage, and DAun Young; nephews, Gregg Lloyd, Butch Stewart, Forrest Lloyd, and Jeff Lloyd. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, as well as great great nieces and nephews.He is preceded by his wife LaVon, parents John Delbert JD and Myrtle Stewart; two borthers, Charles Skippy Stewart and Artie Stewart; one sister Pearl Stewart Lloyd and her husband Gary Lloyd.
