John David Plunk, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Viewing will be held Monday, August 23, 2021 at Horizon Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Central United Methodist Church, Dalhart, Texas. Burial will follow in Stratford Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Horizon Funeral Home. John loved God, family, music and life in general. He always loved being with people, had a crazy sense of humor and a wonderful smile. He loved calling Bingo, cutting watermelon, and taking rodeo tickets while a member of Rotary Club. He had a deep bass voice and used it to praise the Lord whenever he could through choir or the Watchmen Quartet. He loved his church family and was sad when he could no longer go. He had the kind of faith that could move mountains and a heart of gold that was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. John is survived by his wife, Linda of Dalhart, two daughters: Jessica Prock and husband Jared of San Angelo, TX, and Wendy Plunk of Amarillo, TX, two sons: Warren Plunk and wife Jennifer of Dalhart, TX and Willie Plunk of Menasha, WI, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two sisters: Martha Timmons of Ft. Smith, AR, and Linda McClellan and husband Robert of Lake Dallas, TX, many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents V.A. Plunk and Velma Plunk, sisters, Virginia Plunk and Shirley Armstrong. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central United Methodist Church Building Fund or Dalhart Senior Citizen Center.
