Jay Nials, 75, died March 4, 2007 in Hartley County, TexasMemorial Services was held at 2:00 pm, Central Time Friday, March 9, 2007 at the school auditorium in Nara Visa New Mexico John Jay Eloy Nials was born October 3, 1931 near Hudson, NM to John Linden and Ethel Laurinda (Payton) Nials. He grew up near Logan, NM. He started to work at the age of eleven on a ranch south of Tucumcari, NM. He continued to do ranch work for the rest of his life. He started working for the Roy Coots Ranch in 1959 and worked for them until he bought part of the ranch and leased a large part of the rest of it. He married Ada L Evans on Feb. 14, 1989. At the time of his death, he and his wife were still running the ranch. Jay was one of the last real cattlemen of our time.
