John S. Hall, 49, died Sunday June 24, 2012 near Goodwell, OK.A memorial service was held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Channing High School Gym, Channing Texas.John Hall was born on March 7, 1963 in Clovis, New Mexico.He married Beverly Banks on July 1, 1982 in Portales NM, where they lived for three years before moving to Hobbs, NM, and later to Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1991 they had a daughter, Breanna. And in 1994, a son, Johnathon. When John hired on with Burlington Northern they moved back to Clovis, and then to Dalhart. After living in Dalhart for seven years they bought land in Channing where the family has lived for the past twelve years.In 1995 John began working for Burlington Northern Railroad out of Clovis, NM. Shortly after, he moved his wife and two children to Dalhart to work for Southern Pacific Railroad, which later became Union Pacific Railroad. John worked as a conductor for three years, and in 1988 he became an engineer. John was a member of the UTU and the BLE.John also contracted, and ran his own welding business, where he was a very skilled craftsman in ironwork. John was not all work, though, he loved the outdoors. He was a great hunter and a skilled fisherman. And he loved to play. He always had a smile on his face and an encouraging word on his lips.But John was more than a great engineer and craftsman, he was a great man who loved God. He loved, honored, and lifted up his wife and family. John devoted his life to honor and serve the Lord with all of his heart, and he loved helping others. He was always ready to give a helping hand, and showed the love of God in all he did.The Lord called John home on June 24, 2012. He was respected, honored, and loved. And he will be sorely missed.John is survived by his wife Beverly Hall of Channing, TX, a daughter Breanna Hall of Channing and a son Johnathon Hall of Channing. His sister Tami Miller and her husband Mike of Berthoud, CO, niece and her husband, Dainle and Josh Mendenhall of Longmont, CO, nephew Terrell Miller of Berthoud, CO, father and mother in law - Lloyd and Darlene Banks of Portales, NM , sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lynda and Farril DeFoor of Clovis, NM, sister-in-law and brother in-law Janet and Kenny Herbert of Portales, NM , nephew, Stephen Fields of Portales, NM, niece Janay Tweedy and her husband Scott of Hobbs, NM, niece Christy Fields of Portales, NM and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.Preceded in death by parents Spencer and Reta Hall.
