John Marlo Giesbrecht, 35, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015.Services were held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Texline Mennonite Church in Texline, TX. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, TX at 2:30 pm Saturday, August 29, 2015. Under the care of Horizon Funeral Home.John Marlo Giesbrecht was born on January 28,1980 to Jolene Baxter and Steve Giesbrecht.At the age of 12, he responded to the call of God and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite by Minister Don Gable. He enjoyed the outdoors, and spent most of his free time hunting and fishing. He loved playing his guitar and singing his funny songs to his daughter. He was a hard worker; always had a good job. He loved his daughter more than anything. He was quiet until you got to know him. John had a great personality, a heart of gold, loved to tell stories,and make people laugh.He was preceded in death by his sister, Amy Jewell Giesbrecht; brother, Rusty Lee Giesbrecht; paternal grandfather, Johnny Giesbrecht; maternal grandfather, Alvin Searl; and uncle, Roger Cooper. He is survived by his parents, Jolene Baxter of Bethany, OK. and Steve Giesbrecht, of Athens, GA.; a daughter, Ashley Giesbrecht of Greenville,MI; two brothers, Ryan Giesbrecht with daughters Eydan and Kalista of Bethany, OK. and Dylan Giesbrecht of Athens, GA.; four sisters, Jennifer Wade with son Marc of Athens, GA, Shanda Martina and husband Jason with sons Austin and Kagan of Greenville, MI., Jeanna House and husband Wesley with sons Brody and Landon of Dalhart, TX., and Kelli Giesbrecht of Athens, GA.; paternal grandmother, Verda Jean Giesbrecht of Montezuma, KS.; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Searl of Dalhart, TX.; as well as numerous aunts, an uncle, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in honor of John to Wells Fargo Bank, 1641 Tennessee Ave., Dalhart, TX 79022.
