He was born on May 9, 1948, in Glens Falls, NY, to Peter Edward and Rose Elizabeth Fisher. He graduated from Fort Edward High School and after graduation joined the US Navy. He spent 4 years in the Navy and after serving his country, he returned home to Fort Edward to begin working at Decora Industries. He worked there for 15 years. He then became a corrections officer for Washington Prison. He spent 28 years as a corrections officer. He retired at the age of 61.

On November 26, 1971, he married the love of his life Susan Smith. They were married for 42 years. Very rarely did you catch a glimpse of one of them without the other. They enjoyed vacations to Maine and Hampton Beach every year and their weekly excursions to the Racino in Saratoga. Tommy liked to run and trained for many years with his brothers as a long-distance runner. He competed in many 5 and 10K races and then successfully completed 2 marathons at the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon. He was an avid sports enthusiast especially when it came to his beloved New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. But most of all Tommy enjoyed spending time with his family. He relocated to Texas to live with his son, Andrew, and daughter-in-law, Ceri and grandchildren Breanna, Drew and Kenadee. He loved anything and everything that had to do with his grandchildren. He traveled many, many miles to watch Drew and Kenadee compete in anything they did. He enjoyed watching them play numerous sports. He was known and loved by all in Dalhart and was just known as “Pops” to everyone.

Besides his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his wife Susan, as well as his sister-in-law, Cheryl Caprood, brother-in-law, Skip Mandigo and in-laws, Clarence and Phyllis Smith.

Left to cherish the precious memories are his daughter, Tracy and husband John Etu of Fort Edward, NY. His son Andrew and wife Ceri Fisher of Dalhart, TX. His grandchildren Breanna (Christian) of Missouri City, TX, Drew and Kenadee of Dalhart, TX. Along with his brothers and their families, Peter (Mary Ellen), Father Martin Fisher, Daniel (Colleen), Dennis (Gail), Dave (Josie), Bill (Sandy), Tim (Jayne), Kevin, Jeff (Logan). Also survived by his sister-in-law Terry (John) Murphy and brother-in-law William Caprood all of Fort Edward, NY. He has many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will greatly miss him.

Tommy spent his life caring for the ones he loved. He was a dedicated caregiver to his mother-in-law, Philly, once she was diagnosed with dementia. Then later lovingly and selflessly cared for his wife, Susie, during her 8-year battle with cancer. His dedication to serving others continued once he moved to Texas. He loved to volunteer at Brick Street Community Center each day. He was happiest when serving and spending time with others.
