John Lewis Farris, 86 of Hartley, passed away on October 10, 2022. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00AM, Friday, October 14, 2022 at Denver St Church of Christ with Clay Lobley officiating. Interment will be in Hartley Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. John Lewis Farris was born on January 18, 1936 to John Loy and Mary Jane Farris in Matador, TX. He was raised there in a loving home. After graduating high school, he joined and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. Upon return, John relocated to Albuquerque, NM where he met the love of his life, Sue. They had one daughter, Denise. John then moved his family to the Texas Panhandle where he worked in agriculture for different feedlots and ranches. He loved horses, cattle, and kids. He was preceded in death by his parents: John Loy and Mary Jane Farris; two sisters: Ella Bertha Powell and Ida Lois McMurry. John is survived by his wife: Sue of the home; one daughter: Denise of Ft. Worth, grandson: John Loy Farris and wife Dariza and their two sons: Landon and Alistar of Vail, CO; grandson: Jeremy Tucker Farris and wife Mary of Amarillo; nieces: Sherlon Ferguson and husband Darrell, Jo Ritchey and husband Wayne, and Ruth Wessels and husband Dennis; and close friends: Ryan and Karla Hoehn.
