It is with great sadness that the family of Joe Mireles announced his passing on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at the age of 90 years. There was a friends and family viewing Monday, September 2, from 2 until 5 in the San Antonio Room at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. A Prayer vigil with rosary was held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Monday, September 2 at 7:00 p.m. A Mass was celebrated in memory of Joe on Tuesday, September 3 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 411 East Texas Blvd, Dalhart, Texas. Joe was born January 8, 1929 in Dalhart, Tx. to Juan and Felicita (Vigil) Mireles. He was a master carpenter and painter with an eye for perfection second to none. Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. After initial training in Ft. Bliss Texas, Joe was stationed in Worms, Germany with "B" Battery of the 67th AAA Gun Battalion. Joe will be forever remembered by his children, Jay Mireles of Albuquerque, NM; Jodell (Brent) Kennedy of Vici, OK; Tina (Monte) Simerly of Dalhart; Nadine (John) Pope of Dalhart; Renee (Chuck) Romero of Guymon, OK; Denny (Sheila) of Fredericksburg, VA; Lee (Jill) of Fulton, MO; Stephanie(Joe) Tuma of Frisco, TX; and Paul (Cy) of Grapevine, TX. Joe will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Louise Jangala of Roanoke, VA, brother Benny Mireles of Douglas, WY, his twenty grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, Ernest, and Julio. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Dalhart Meals-on-Wheels at P.O.
