Jimmy was born on October 27, 1930 at the Pronger Ranch in Stratford, Texas to J. Elmer and Dorothy (Pronger) Summerour. His early education was in a one room school called Colony, and he graduated from Stratford High School in 1949, and he graduated from Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater, OK in 1953. He was a member of Farmhouse Fraternity and ROTC. He served two years in the Army. After his discharge he returned home to farm and ranch with his father and brothers.
Jimmy married Helen Click on June 14, 1953. They had 3 daughters, Debra, Cindy, and Kristi. In 1962, Jimmy was involved in an accident where he was run over by a tractor that resulted in breaking his pelvis. We did not know if he would live or even walk again. We feel so blessed to have had him in our lives for 57 extra years. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cindy Wedel, and great-grandson, Jackson Walden.
Jimmy and Helen were members of the Central United Methodist Church. He was active in church and loved being a greeter. Jimmy enjoyed farming and ranching. He took up flying in the late 70s. He loved playing cards and dominoes with friends and grandkids. He always had the cutest grin and the sweetest demeanor.
