Jimmy DeFries, 63, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Dumas, Texas.
Graveside services for Jimmy were held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 16, 2011 in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, TX. Officiating was Peter Baumert, Branch President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dalhart, Texas.

Jimmy Dean DeFries was born September 10, 1947 in Dalhart, Texas to Milam R. and Sally L. (Madden) DeFries. He grew up in Dalhart and graduated form Dalhart High School in 1966. He married Lee Ann Franklin in 1966; Jimmy farmed for Merten Schmidt and Virgil Artho until drafted into the Army in 1969. He served in Vietnam War until 1971. He returned to Dalhart and continued farming until 1979, when he moved to Perryton, TX. He worked for Dowell/Schlumberger until his retirement in 2006. He was a talented artist and leatherworker, an avid reader; a gifted farmer and gardener; and he loved fast cars. He was also an expert marksman and loved to fish. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, and will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his daughters Dena Bye of Tulia, TX, and Lori Limbocker of Dumas, TX. A son Cullen DeFries of Holdenville, OK and a sister Betty Yell of Collinsville, OK. and 10 grandchildren
Preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and one son.
