Jimmy Joe Chambers, 76 of Channing, passed away on August 27, 2022. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 10:30am, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Channing Cemetery with Pastor Karl Smith, Channing Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. Chambers will lay in state on Tuesday from noon until 5:00pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Jimmy was born on April 15, 1946 to James Calvin and Sylvia Ellen Chambers in Amarillo, TX. He graduated from San Jon NM in 1964 and went to honorably serve in the United States Army form 1966-1968. Jimmy then found and married his sweetheart, Donna Garver, in 1971. He then went to work in the Highway Department and ended up working for Cal Farleys boys Ranch as a House Parent for 10 years then as an Oldham County Deputy and retiring as Chief of Security from the ranch. Joe was involved with the Channing Methodist Church and loved to play music, especially the guitar. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Anita York. Jimmy Joe is survived by his wife of over 50 years: Donna of the home; one son Jimmy Don Chambers and Carla of Amarillo; grandchildren: Brittany Gunn, Kristen Jolley and husband Tyler, Kayden York, Brandon York, Ashley and Trevor Bates; great grandchildren: Conner, Quintin, Matthew and Jason Chambers, and Alexis Garvin and children.
