Jimmie C. Meeks, 83, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Amarillo, TX. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at First Baptist Church - with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TX Jimmie Critenton Meeks was born February 19, 1935 in Logan, NM to Charles Omer and Orpha Mae (Hawkins) Meeks. Jimmie loved bull riding and saddle bronc riding. He joined the US Army in 1953 and served in the US Army corps of engineers. He was stationed in Alaska for 3 years. After his service he married Nina Jean Clifton on November 30, 1957 in Clayton, NM. They were blessed with three children Joanna Elizabeth, Judy Kay and Jimmy Alan. Jimmie is survived by his wife Nina Meeks of Amarillo, TX, 2 daughters: Joanna Crist and her husband Jeff of Amarillo, TX, Judy Vogt and husband Richard of Amarillo, TX and Son Jimmy Alan Meeks and wife Melony of Fort Worth, TX, a sister Edna Stout of Dalhart, TX, a brother Kenneth Meeks and wife Sandy of Lubbock, TX and 6 grandchildren - Shay Smith and wife Ashley of Hereford, TX, Garrett Hall of Amarillo, TX, Whitney Marrow and husband Allen of Anson, TX, Zachary Meeks, Thomas Meeks and Jessica Meeks all of Fort Worth, TX and 6 great grandchildren. Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Evelyn Swanson, brother-in-law Rusty Swanson, and brother-in-law Don Stout.
