Jimmie Sue Chisum, 83, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Claude, TX.A memorial service was held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Panhandle Church of Christ in Panhandle, TX.Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 28, 2018 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX. Services entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas.Jimmie Sue Burnett was born March 5, 1935 in Dalhart, Texas to Elmer and Berniece (Potter) Burnett.Jimmie Sue grew up in Dalhart, was Miss Dalhart and XIT Queen in 1951.A longtime member of the Dalhart Church of Christ, Jimmie Sue was baptized there, and met her future husband there. After she graduated from Dalhart High School, she married Troy Chisum on December 23, 1952 in the Dalhart Church of Christ. She taught bible classes and along with her husband Troy hosted many church youth group outings.Jimmie Sue attended Amarillo College and received her Texas Nursing Home license in 1975. She served as Coon Memorial Nursing Home administrator for over ten years, also served as administrator for Dumas, The Canyons in Amarillo, Elizabeth Jane Bivins in Amarillo and retired from St. Anns in Panhandle, where she made her home.Jimmie Sue loved her family and was a doting grandmother! She was an excellent cook; her grandchildren will tell you her specialties were chicken fried steak and chocolate pies.She is survived by her son Russ Chisum and his wife Tanna of Vernon, TX. Her daughter Shirlyne Grantham of Panhandle, TX, granddaughter-Tara Friers and her husband Donald of Lubbock, TX, grandson -Ty Chisum and his wife Ashley of Lubbock, TX, granddaughter - Myka Gauna and husband Mani of Panhandle, TX, grandson - Dusty Grantham and wife Jordynne of Lubbock, TX,granddaughter- Tisha Moore and husband Tristen of Rowlett, TX, granddaughter Callie Chisum of Lubbock, TX, grandson Trevor Ray and wife Shvonne of Goodlett, TX and grandson - Zach Chisum of Vernon, TX. Great-grandchildren Spencer & Riley McMahan, Bentley & Kennedy Chisum, Shae, Mattie, Willa & Elliot Gauna,and Cooper Grantham.Jimmie Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Ruth Rue, and two brothers Mike Burnett and Lanny Tim Burnett.
