IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jim "Pops"
Reynolds
June 23, 1941 – January 9, 2024
James Robert Reynolds, Sr. (aka Jimmy, Jim, Coach, Dad, Pops) passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 82. Jim was born June 23, 1941, in Dalhart, TX to Nellie and Raymon Reynolds. He was the youngest of 5 children. Jim graduated from Dalhart High School in 1959, attended Texas A&M where he joined the Corp. Jim transferred to Texas Tech to be closer to home, but he yearned to play basketball so off to Panhandle State he went. Jim played basketball and baseball for OPSU until he graduated in 1965. After graduating with his Animal Science degree, he moved back to Dalhart to begin a successful career in farming and a side hustle in coaching. There are very few people in Dalhart who have not been touched by Jim's basketball knowledge and skill. He either coached you or coached someone who has coached you – trust us when we say he has had an impact on everyone in the Dalhart basketball community. He loved to compete – played in the men's basketball league, softball and could play a mean game of 42. Jim was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church. He taught many Sunday school classes and hosted numerous prayer breakfasts. His Senior Adult Sunday School Department would say that he would witness to the devil if he had the chance. Jim was a God loving man who enjoyed sharing his faith with others.
