Jesus Manuel "Chumel" Gonzalez, 68 of Dalhart, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 1 o' clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Lawrence John celebrating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 6 o' clock in the evening on Monday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Jesus was born on April 6, 1953 to Adalio and Apolonia Gonzalez in Juarez, Mexico. He married the love of his life, Bertha, on October 17, 1972. Jesus was an operator at Cargill for many years until his retirement in 2016. Jesus enjoyed sitting on his front porch on 7th street and watch the traffic go by. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. One of Jesus favorite past times was playing the accordion and piano. He was a member of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents: Adalio and Apolonia Gonzalez; one son in law: James Harris; four brothers; and four sisters. Jesus is survived by his wife: Bertha of Dalhart; children: Marti Harris of Dalhart, Jesus Gonzales, Jr and wife Dianna of Arlington, Hugo Gonzalez and wife Jennifer of Ft Worth, Mayra Gonzales and husband Chuck Webb of Arlington, Ayda Gonzalez of Dalhart, Eduardo Azarte and wife Lily of Garden City, KS, and Denise Chacon and husband Aaron of Dalhart; one sister: Refugia Gonzalez; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
