Jesus M. Acosta

Jesus M. Acosta, age 69, of Dalhart, passed away, Saturday, August 15, 2026. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Dalhart. Rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the Dalhart Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Dalhart Funeral Home.

Jesus was born on August 5, 1957, in Mexico to Angelina Montano and Gabino Acosta Sr. Jesus moved to the United States at a young age where he worked in the melon and onion fields for many years in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Rocky Ford was his home for many years. Later he moved to Stratford and for the last several years lived in Hartley.

Jesus had a way to make everyone around him have a good time. His smile, jokes, and personality made every moment with him memorable. He loved to dance and have a good time. Whenever music was played you could count on him to get up and show his dance moves.

He was deeply loved by his family, and his presence brought so much joy to our life. He will be missed dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents Angelina Montano and Gabino Acosta Sr.

He is survived by his five daughters, Emma Acosta and husband Juan Teran, Viviana Acosta and husband Juan Carlos Rodriguez, Angelina Acosta, Maria Acosta and husband Armando Meza, Ninfa Acosta and husband Cesar Sanchez; his son, Steven; brothers, Gabino Acosta Jr., Benjamin Acosta, Heriberto Acosta and wife Carmen Acosta; his sister, Concepcion Acosta and husband Richardo Roman; 19 Grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Jesus always has a saying from one of his favorite songs, that we will remember him for, “Pero sigo siendo de rey!!!” -Vicente Fernandez
