Jeffery Ray McCutchen, age 50, of Dalhart, passed away at Borger Healthcare Center Sunday, January 19, 2025.

Jeffery was born on January 11, 1975, in Hereford, Texas to Herman Conley McCutchen and Janice Ann (Head) McCutchen. The family moved to Dalhart when Jeffery was very young, where he grew up. Jeffery attended Dalhart ISD and graduated High School in 1993.

Growing up Jeffery had 2 boxers that he loved, Rowdy and Barney. Jeffery loved animals, enjoyed fishing, riding horses and he loved his church family.

Jeffery worked as an auto parts representative for several auto parts stores in the area over the years. In late 2019, he began training for Texas Department of Criminal Justice and in February 2020, he received his certification and served as a prison guard at the Dalhart Prison.

Jeffery was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Conley McCutchen and Janice Ann (Head) McCutchen. Jeffery is survived by his brother Dale and sister-in-law Shelly McCutchen, of Amarillo, two nieces, Chambrey McCutchen and Brenlee McCutchen; aunts Shirley May and Opal Holmes and uncle, James Head all of Hereford; and many cousins.

Jeffery's funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Friday January 24 at First Baptist Church, 1000 E 16th Street, Dalhart. Burial will be at Rest Lawn Cemetery, Hereford. Jeffery will be in state from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM Thursday at Horizon Funeral Home, 701 Elm Avenue (the corner of Elm and 7th), Dalhart.
