Patricia Jane (Perry) Wilkinson opened her eyes in Heaven on Saturday evening, November 12, 2022. She departed as she would have wanted in the company of her kids' singing, laughing, reminiscing and loving on her for several days. She left at her appointed time peacefully and her children were blessed to usher her into the waiting arms of Jesus. A celebration of her life will be Wednesday, November 16, at 1:00 pm at Lincoln Street Baptist Church in Dalhart. Pastor Jeff "Skip" Chisum will officiate the celebration of Janes life.
Jane was born on April 13, 1942 to William and Ruby (Vaught) Perry in Dalhart, Texas. Jane learned to play the piano at a young age and loved to play for her family. She attended school in Dalhart and graduated in 1960 from Dalhart High School. Jane began working in the 1960s as a telephone operator in Dalhart. Jane and her husband Dan Wilkinson relocated their family to Caney, Kansas in 1970. While there, she served at East Side Baptist Church and as a Boy Scout Pack leader before relocating back to her hometown.
After returning from Caney, she had various jobs but the one she loved most was being a rural mail carrier on Route 3, which she took over from her mother who had acquired the route from Janes father after he died in 1958. She drove over a million miles over her 35 plus years as a mail contractor with the US Postal Service. In August 2016, shortly before her retirement, she was nationally recognized with the Eagle Spirit Award, the postal services highest award for rural postal carriers, for her dedication and outstanding contribution to the postal service.
She was a long-time member of Lincoln Street Baptist Church in Dalhart. She spent many years warming donuts, enjoying fellowships and loving all who walked through the doors.
More important than any of the positions she held, the role she valued the most was as an amazing mother. Her love and care for her six children was what she did best. She taught them what was most important in life and that was to love Jesus and to love others.
Jane, more affectionately known by her family as Granny, was welcomed in Heaven by those who left before her, including her parents, her brother Joe William Perry, her nephew Scot Brian Perry, her granddaughters Sunnie Beth Abla and Lydia Renee Mireles.
Jane is survived by her children: Tracy and Alan Griffin of Boys Ranch, Texas; Bert and Julie Abla of Owasso, Oklahoma; Clay and Cheryl Abla of Castle Rock, Colorado; Kurtis and Dana Abla of Dalhart, Texas; Wendy and Duane Williams of Lubbock, Texas and Dana Wilkinson and Brandon Benson of Dalhart, Texas; her grandchildren: Kara Pulliam of Southeast Texas; Andy Weaver of Florida; Trista Vincent of Abilene, Texas; Ashley and Randy Todd of Channing, Texas; Raelynn and Gary Hall of Catoosa, Oklahoma; Danna Abla and Cody Beisel of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Amanda and Matthew Maloney of Casselman, Ontario Canada; Austin Abla of Woodland Hills, California; Madison Abla of Dalhart, Texas; J.D. and MaKayla Abla, of Dalhart, Texas; Dusty and Bre Stapleton of Wichita Falls, Texas; Lindsey and Daniel Snell of Midland, Texas; Anna Williams of Troy, Alabama; Elizabeth Williams of Lubbock, Texas; Miles Mireles and Radley Wilkinson of Dalhart, Texas; her great-grandchildren: Dade, Ziah, Kaiser, Makhia, Emma, Caiden, Jackson, Jordan, Lexi, Pyper, Carson, Chloe, Sunnie Lea, Stella, Roland, Georgia Rose, Daxis, Willow, Jensen, Ace, Emryn, and Harmony and her great-great grandson Khade.
