Jane Ann Cunningham, 96, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Dalhart, Texas. Services were held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Central United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery - Officiating will be Steve Paterson, Pastor.Jane Ann Kraft was born January 3, 1920 in College Station, TX to Walter and Bennye Mae (Roquemore) Kraft. Her family moved to Norman, Oklahoma where Jane Ann had most of her schooling. She graduated from University High School when she was 16 and graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1940, with a degree in Home Economics and she did home demonstrations for a couple of years.Jane Ann Kraft and John H. Cunningham met in College and on September 6, 1942 they were married in Lubbock, TX, on the same day John received his wings in the Army Air Corp. In 1953 Jane Ann and John moved to Dalhart with their five children and made it their forever home. As soon as the family was settled, they placed their membership in Central United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday school secretary and literature director for 50 plus years. Jane Ann loved music and she sang in the choir at the church for many years. God first and family second, she attended church faithfully until her health prevented it. Jane Ann was known for her smile and joy wherever she went, she was a wonderful seamstress, an avid cook and although her husband, John, was the doctor - Jane Ann was the caregiver; often prescribing a quick fix for ailing patients.Jane Ann joined Contemporary Study Club not long after she came to Dalhart. She served as President and most of the other offices and attended faithfully. As an active member she attended monthly meetings in Dalhart and went to District and State Conventions.Through her children's school years, she served on just about every committee there was and was an avid sports fan, attending all of their games. Not only was she an avid sports fan for the Wolves, she loved to watch the OU Sooners, the Atlanta Braves and many college and professional games, it didn't matter who it was. She wouldn't miss the Baseball World Series for anything.Jane Ann's grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she attended every event she possibly could, making a lot of out of town events as well.Jane Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. John Cunningham, Sr, her son, Dr. John Cunningham, Jr. and two grandsons, Ray Allison (Toby) Snead, III and Johnathan Windsor Snead, two sisters and a brother-in-law. She is survived by three sons, Bill and wife, Marsha Cunningham of Dalhart, Bobby and wife, Carol Cunningham of Lubbock, Rick and wife, Glenda Cunningham of Dalhart, Marsha and husband, Bud Snead of Dalhart, 15 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
