James Watt Heater, 66, born December 11, 1949 in Dumas, Texas, passed away August 30, 2016 in Dalhart, Texas. James grew up in Dalhart, Texas with his parents Collier and Lela Ruth Heater where he attended and graduated from Dalhart High School. James faithfully served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on July 2, 1981. James received multiple certificates and on-going education from Western Technical College in Denver, Colorado in the Electronics and Automation programs, and from the Emergency Management Institute in areas of disaster relief, emergency preparedness, and hazardous materials. Additionally, James received certificates through the Catholic Home Study Service on the Catechism and Bible, and computer courses through Dalhart Community Education.James was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts. James loved God, his cats, and his fellow human beings. His generosity of spirit was evident in his donation of his body to the Texas Tech Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas to advance the medical discipline and aid students in their knowledge and quest to become medical professionals.A memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 411 Texas Boulevard, Dalhart, TX, with Msgr. Michael Colwell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Anthony of Paduas Faith & Works Food Pantry to P.O. Box 1029, and Dalhart Meals on Wheels to P.O. Box 791, both in Dalhart, TX 79022.
