Jack Earl McClendon, 90 died Sunday, November 2, 2008 in Dalhart, TX Graveside Services were held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Memorial Park Cemetery. George Chambers, Pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church officiated.Jack Earl McClendon and his twin brother Joe were born July 3, 1918 in Texhoma, Texas to John H. and Freddie (McKewan) McClendon. He and his family moved to Dalhart in 1927, after high school Jack began his career as a builder and carpenter. In 1937 he met Grace Hooser and on November 21, 1940 they were married at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Dalhart TX, Grace died on January 8, 1997. When Jack was 18 he built the family home on 7th street and a few years later he built another house next door for he and Grace. Jack was an accomplished builder and excellent cabinet maker he owned and operated the Cabinet Shop for over 35 years before he retired in 1979. Jack was a member of Lakeview united Methodist Church and had served on the City Plumbing Board for many years as well as serving as chapter secretary for the A.F.L Carpenters Union when it was located in Dalhart, TX. Jack helped with a number of housing developments in Dalhart. His hobbies included playing his harmonica, fishing and hunting. Survivors include his son Ed McClendon of Greeley, CO, Grandsons: Dallas Larson of Dalhart, TX Todd Larson of Bertram, TX and a granddaughter: Leslie Mendoza of Dalhart, TX great-granddaughters: Megan Larson, Aleesia Mendoza of Dalhart, TX and Drew Larson of Bertram, TX great-grandsons: Brandt, Trey and Chase Mendoza all of Dalhart, TXJack is preceded in death by his parents J.H. and Freddie McClendon Wife Grace 1 daughter: Jane Larson, 2 brothers: Carl and Joe McClendon and 4 sisters: Margaret Hall, Coye Whitby, Jean Redman, and Betty Franks.
