J. C. Dye - 98 - died on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 in Dalhart, Texas.Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Dalhart with Rodney Weatherly, Pastor officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas. John Clarence Dye was born November 3, 1907 in the Oklahoma Territory, thirteen days before it became a state. He was the oldest child of Alexander & Beulah Grace (Isenhauer) Dye who were the parents of ten children. J. C. grew up near Hardesty, OK & attended school in Goodwell OK. He operated a Kaiser-Frazier dealership in Dalhart & Dumas for several years and later operated a Chrysler dealership in Dalhart. Mr. Dye was also a farmer in the area. J. C. was a member of the First Baptist Church and sang in the Church choir for twenty years. He taught himself to play the guitar and piano. He also played the French harp, saxophone and organ.He is survived by his wife Gladys Ledbetter Dye of Dalhart, TX, Son- Jerry & wife Lynn Dye of Canyon, TX, Daughters- Clarene & husband Bill Chesnut of Texline, TX, LaMoyne Christy of Chula Vista, CA, Rita and her husband Bobby Elliott of Dalhart, TX, Daughters-in law- Wanda Dye of Dalhart, TX, Fifi Dye Parks of Pueblo CO, two brothers & two sisters, 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, Step-sons-Ronnie Ledbetter, Houston, TX, Tommy Ledbetter, Carlsbad, CA, Arty Ledbetter, Losgoten, CA nine step grandchildren, one step great-grandchild.J.C. is preceded in death by his wives - Irene Nickeson Dye and Fern Parker Dye. A Daughter - Rogene Jones, 4 Sons - John, Chester, Phillip and Lester Clarence.
