Ivy C. Prater, 85, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 in Dalhart, TexasServices will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at First Christian Church, Dalhart, Texas. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TXOfficiating will be Barry Walker, Pastor, First Christian Church, Dalhart, TX . Ivy Prater was born on July 16, 1926 in Canadian, Texas to Issac Horton and Elizabeth (Moyer) Prater. Ivy was raised around Canadian until he joined the Navy at the age of seventeen, during World War Two. He later married Betty Joyce Kizziar on September 4, 1946. Ivy and Betty worked on ranches in Stratford and the Buzzard Ranch for 23 years. He also worked for Cargill as a cowboy for nine years and for XIT Feeders for eleven years.
