Iris Gail Watkins, 69, died Monday, August 27, 2013 in Amarillo, Texas. Memorial services were held Friday, August 30, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene with Billy Rammage, retired Baptist minister and Rick Calvert, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene,officiating.Graveside services followed at 3:00 p.m. in Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Kansas, with arrangements by Horizon Funeral Home.Iris Gail Blakeley was born January 24, 1944 to Howard and Nellie (Goodwin) Blakely. She was loved by God and people, and was a faithful, loving wife. On April 24, 1986, Iris married James Sidney Watkins and they were married for 27 years.Iris was a soul winner and a prayer warrior who was first to be called for prayers. This was her gift from God her wisdom of the Bible. She used this gift to support her writings and to advise people. Iris suffered with Lupus for 20 years, but this sickness did not keep her from sharing Gods words. She continued to call upon God for strength, healing, and wisdom for herself and others in all circumstances.We will miss Mrs. Iris, but we can hold on to her encouraging words and know one day we will see her in Heaven, if we stay true to God!Iris is survived by her husband, James Watkins of Dalhart, Texas; sister, Billie Horton of Elkhart, Kansas; brother, Jim Blakeley of Keyes, Oklahoma.She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Thrash; brother, Lyndon Blakeley.
