Ida Nell Grimes, 78 of Dalhart, passed away at Coon Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May 23, 2021 after losing her battle with C.O.P.D. A Graveside Service was scheduled for 2 o clock in the afternoon on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart with Kurtis Abla officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Ida was born on May 8, 1943 to Jackie and Ruby Hemphill in Childress, TX. She was the first of three siblings and moved to Dalhart to reside with her late husband John Walter Bolton and remained util her passing. Ida and John Bolton were married on March 28, 1959 and had six children: Michael, Johnny, Walter, Dede, Connie, and Patty. After Johns passing, Ida met another fine gentleman by the name of Johnnie Grimes, and they married in February 1992. Ida happily welcomed him and his seven children: Christina, Joseph, Shelley, Delaney, Daniel, April, and Heath to be a part of her family. Ida was a homemaker most of her life but also a truck driver, janitor, and overall jack of all trades; there was nothing she could not do. She enjoyed fishing and being with family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ida had the biggest heart and loved big; she would never meet a stranger and without hesitation would help anyone in need by feeding or clothing them. Ida was loved by many people and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her first husband: John Bolton; her parents and grandparents; one sister: Glenda Walker; two sons: Heath Grimes and Johnnie Bolton; one grandchild: Rebecca Walker and one great grandchild: Blake Pyle. Ida is survived by her husband: Johnnie Grimes of the home; five children: Michael Bolton and wife Irma, Walter Bolton, Dede Pyle and husband Glen all of Dalhart, Connie Bolton and wife Laurie Craine of Clayton, NM, Patty Garcia and husband Daniel of Dalhart, daughter in law, Jane Bolton, two adopted sons: Alan Floyd and wife Vangi Songcat, Chris Goodson and wife Shelley all of Dalhart; thirty three grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; one brother: Michael Hemphill and wife Sandy of Westminster, CA and many nieces and nephews.
