Ida May Amyx, 80, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 29, 2009.Funeral Services were held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Dalhart, TX. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TX.Officiants were Rodney Weatherly, Pastor, First Baptist Church, and Bob McAlister, Pastor to Senior Adults, First Baptist Church, Dalhart, TexasIda May McClellan, the youngest of the ten children of J. L. and Inez (Walker) McClellan was born south of Texline on the former XIT Ranch land. She had all of her schooling at Dalhart and was secretary and salutatorian of her Senior Class (class of 1946). James and Ida May were married June 23, 1946 in her parents home. After which they moved to the Era Community near Gainesville in Cooke County where James and his father built the first Grade A Dairy barn in the community. In May 1947, they moved back to Dalhart, and back to Era again in 1949. They purchased the dairy where they lived until they moved back to Dalhart in 1980. While living in Era, Ida May was a Sunday School teacher, Music Director, and Training Director in church, and active in Home Demonstration Club, Council Delegate, and in the choir at the State Convention. In Dalhart, Ida May was President of the Baptist Womans Missionary Union, a member of the Womans Literary Club and Zeta Chi Sorority. She was a member of the Coon Memorial Auxiliary Pink Ladies for almost a decade. Ida May was an active member of the First Baptist Church.Survivors include her Sons- Richard and his wife Becky Amyx of Dalhart, TX, Danny Amyx of Irving, TX, a daughter: Donna and her husband Mike Otts, of Gainsville, TX, 2 brothers: Cecil McClellan of Texline, TX, Howard McClellan Of Amarillo, TX, Six Grandchildren and Four Great-grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents, husband James who died in October 2000, three sisters and four brothers.In Lieu of flowers, the Family suggests donations toCoon Memorial Home Auxiliary, "Pink Ladies", 322 Conlen, Dalhart, Texas 79022 Coon Memorial Hospice, 320 Texas Blvd, Dalhart, Texas 79022
